What are intermittent pneumatic compression d evices?
Intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC) devices use sleeves around the legs and feet that fill with air and squeeze legs and feet. This . increases blood flow through the veins of legs and helps prevent Deep Vein Thrombosis.

 

Why does the patient need to use intermittent pneumatic compression devices?
The patient might need to use IPC devices if he has a high risk of getting a DVT. A variety of conditions can slows the movement of blood through veins increases the risk of DVT, such as:
